Hello Beautiful People,
There was a persistent sound that began to ring in my ear, relentless and unwavering, that was demanding my attention. When I finally attended to the sound, I discovered that it wasn’t just sound but a voice. A voice that told me Be Still…
Recently, I found myself in complete silence and realized just how much sound I usually have around me from my iPhone, TV, and phone conversations. It made stop to think about how many sounds surround us daily. There is rarely a time we experience true silence. I was surprised by how much I accomplished in the quiet. When you experience true silence, you not only hear yourself but most importantly, you hear God. I was able to hear God speak to me saying “How am I supposed to speak to you when you don’t allow yourself to have a listening ear”. I had to reassess my priorities and reflect on what truly matters to me. I asked myself what steps I need to take to align myself where God wants me to be.
I came across the scripture 1 Samuel 3:1-10, the story where Samuel heard his name begin called, he thought it was Eli his dad. Once, Eli realized the voice was God calling his son he told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening’.” Samuel laid down and God begin to speak. This scripture revealed to me how God can speak not only to you but also to those around you. When Samuel didn’t recognize God’s voice, his father knew exactly who was calling his son and understood how to receive the word of the Lord. This scripture demonstrates God’s patience, as God called Samuel not once, but three times until Samuel was able to receive his word.
I love how God knows his children. One day earlier this year, I heard a voice telling me I should wear a certain pair of boots. I kept debating because it didn’t look like it was going to rain. I decided to wear my gym shoes, and as soon as I left my destination, it began to pour down rain. I stopped and thought, “Wow, this keeps happening to me. Something keeps telling me to do something, and I don’t listen”. I spoke to my mom about how something keeps urging me to act, and when I ignore them, the exact thing I was warned about happens. My mom told me it’s not something it’s the holy spirit, this is a way God will guide you. All I could do is Thank God because, despite my not listening, he didn’t stop speaking to me. God will test you by prompting you to do small things to see if you will listen. This reminded me to pay closer attention to those inner promptings, recognizing God’s voice guiding me and moving me closer to him. The closer you get to God, the more clearly you begin to hear him.
God works in mysterious ways. Silence is the key to clarity. When you are not constantly surrounded by noise it presents an opportunity to focus on what truly matters to you. We all have a purpose, and God patiently waits for us to move in the direction he is guiding us to. Make time to listen when God calls, no matter how busy you are.
